Halloween Playlist, For Grown Ups
Halloween brings out the kid in most of us. Well, it brings out the kid in me that's for sure! I love everything Halloween, the sights and smells, the movies and treats. But one thing I don't love is the music of Halloween. Super cheesy, really annoying and not something I want to hear, even just once a year. So, I've compiled my favorite songs that have spooky sounds or ghoulish lyrics. Throw this on the speaker and your party will suck a little less. Here it is, your Grown-Up Halloween Playlist:
First things first: the best Grown Up Halloween Song, "Heads Will Roll" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. If you haven't heard it, hear it. Now.
Next, "Hollow Moon" by AWOLNATION. Written just for your Grown Up Halloween party.
Also, "Sympathy For The Devil" by Rolling Stones. Classic, amazing, no playlist is complete without at least one Rolling Stones song.
Next up, twenty one pilots, "Stressed Out", "Heathens", and "HeavyDirtySoul" to start. They all have very specific, yet different tones. My daughter loves twenty one pilots, and she's 4. She's got great taste. She doesn't even know she loves twenty one pilots. She just loves a bunch of songs from them.
And "Blood In The Cut" by K.Flay, of course. It's got it all, headbanging music and twisted lyrics. It's a must.
"In Cold Blood" by alt-J is another great one, it's all about a murder in a swimming pool. Super creepy, check out the lyrics when you listen to it.
Don't forget "Helena" by My Chemical Romance, an oldie but a goodie. I added this one because the video was pretty goth. And you have to have at least one scream-o song in there, am I right?
A few more, depending on your taste, "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult; "Psycho Killer"by Talking Heads; "I'm In Love With a Monster" by Fifth Harmony (thanks a bunch Adam Sandler); or "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons. Not sure why, just seemed to fit. And there you have it, or at least it's a start. You don't have to listen to the usual cliche songs this year, but if you do, at least add a few of these in between. You won't regret it! Cheers, and Happy Halloweenie!
