With warmer weather approaching, we love spending time outside soaking up the sunshine. And story time is an important and treasured part of our day, inside snuggled in bed before sleep time; or outside under a homemade tent-fort-reading cave. We love to read about what's going on in the world around us, so here are a few of our favorite books about spring. Keep in mind, my audience is a 4 year old princess.....
When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes
By one of our favorite authors, this is a quick and easy read about what happens when spring comes! Illustrated by Laura Dronzek, the pictures are delightfully cheery too!
My Garden by Kevin Henkes
More beautiful pictures of flowers and spring, you can't go wrong with Kevin Henkes. This one is about a girl who helps her mother in the garden, and she describes what her garden would be like. Don't be surprised if you are planting jelly beans this season.
Bear Wants More by Karma Wilson/Jane Chapman
I just love the sing-songy vibe of these books, it makes it so much fun to read to kids! A charming edition of the Bear collection by Karma Wilson, this tale follows Bear's exhausting search for springtime goodies ending with a springtime party! If you like this one, be sure to grab Bear Snores On.
The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle
What a great book about seeds, this one teaches us about how seeds travel, and springtime, and resilience against all odds....well maybe I'm digging too deep there. But it is a wonderful story, and a perfect chance to plant some seeds of your own and watch them grow this spring!
So there you have it, a nice little collection of stories to get you into the spring time mood....check your local library or arrange a book swap with friends! And after you learn all about the buzzing and blooming of spring, scatter some seeds of your own! Kids love to water plants and watch them grow. What are some of your favorite books about spring?
